Ouarzazate is nicknamed the gateway to the desert and is home to the famous Atlas Film Studios (Ouallywood), where numerous international films and TV series have been shot, as well as the Taourirt Kasbah and, nearby, the UNESCO-listed site of Aït Ben Haddou. It's also a key stop before continuing to the Drâa Valley or the Merzouga desert.
The route follows the N9 and crosses the Tizi n'Tichka pass, peaking at over 2,200 metres — a spectacular but winding road that shouldn't be underestimated. Expect around 3h30; our drivers know this mountain route and its seasonal conditions well.
